05.12.2012 - Steelers Sign Chris Frank
The Sheffield Steelers have confirmed the signing of 26 year old blue liner Chris Frank for the remainder of the season.

Frank played for the Cardiff Devils last season amassing 4 goals 13 points and an incredible 324 penalty minutes.

Head coach Ryan Finnerty said "We finally got our man. We spoke all last summer with Chris trying to bring him here. I think he enjoyed his time in Cardiff but wanted to give North America one last go. With the lock out and the politics back there that decision didn't quiet work out

"We are lucky to be in the position where a player like him becomes available at this time of the year. With Jim Jorgenson out until late February we needed another guy at the back. Timing worked out just right with Tommy Sestito leaving us, it meant we had the space and the budget to bring another guy in.

"Chris will be bringing us toughness of course but he is also a very good player, he is mean and nasty and I will be looking for him to continue with this style whilst with us

"Chris will fly in on Wednesday and make his debut on Saturday in the home game against Edinburgh at ICE Sheffield"

Frank, speaking from San Francisco on Monday evening confirmed that he was excited to be returning the UK "I loved my time in Cardiff, the fans there were great. I'm excited about going to Sheffield, when you play there you realise its like being in Cardiff but just times 10

"I want to win and Ryan has put a great team together. I know Ryan from back in the day over here. I have heard great things about him as a coach and can't wait to play for him. I can't get over soon enough and I'm looking forward to Saturdays game against Edinburgh"

30.02.2013 - Gordon and Frank to join Melbourne Ice
Written by Chris Bowen

With the season only a matter of weeks away now, it’s time meet two players who will represent the Melbourne Ice for the first time this season.

The Melbourne Ice has added two new imports to their roster. Joining fellow imports Jason Baclig, Matt Armstrong and Mike Thorburn are Chris Frank and John Gordon.

Meet Chris Frank, an American born defender from Lynnwood, WA and John Gordon, a Canadian who hails from Keene, OT and also plays on the blue line.

The Ice announced its full squad for the upcoming 2013 season and the inclusion of the two import defenders with impressive resumes to show will add to an already strong squad looking to secure a fourth consecutive title.

Chris Frank brings a wealth of experience to the Ice playing in the AHL, ECHL and NCAA, three of the best leagues in North America outside of the NHL.

Frank, drafted in the 7th Round by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft is a tough customer that will bring solid play in his own zone with ability to contribute on the offensive side of things.

John Gordon is another blue liner that will bring plenty of experience to this Melbourne Ice team.

Gordon is a highly skilled offensive defenseman. Gordon has averaged more than a point a game over his career which has seen him play throughout Europe, with stints in the Netherlands, Serbia, Germany and England.

Add an appearance in the 2011/12 Netherlands All Star Game and being Dutch Champion during 2008/09 and 2010/11 to his resume and Canadian is quite impressive and should play a big part in the Ice’s championship pursuit.

You get the feeling that watching both Frank and Gordon in a Melbourne Ice jersey will be entertaining and fun to watch.
